SPU Passive Roof ®

In the SPU Passive Roof solution, the entire roof structure comprises finished elements. The solution consists of a sandwich element, in which a wooden board as well as the ventilation and installation space studding are attached on both sides of the SPU insulation board. Also the eave solution is included in the structure of the element. The structure is load-bearing and easy to modify at the worksite. Lead-ins, such as the opening for the chimney, can be made in any position. Thanks to rapid installation and its unique structure, the SPU Passive Roof saves considerable time and costs. The structure of the SPU Passive Roof is also thin compared to other passive solutions.

The SPU Passive Roof is a roof element designed especially for the construction of passive and low-energy houses. In addition to its excellent heat insulation and airtightness, the SPU Passive Roof is very fast to install. In practice, it is possible to finish a roof for a detached house – except for the waterproof layer and interior lining – in a single day. This speed is a definite advantage in winter construction, because the building’s heating system can be turned on the same day the roof is installed.

There are two different models of the SPU Passive Roof which are suitable for passive houses and low-energy houses. The elements are made to standard and to specified measurements. SPU Systems sells SPU Passive Roof elements directly to construction firms and manufacturers of factory-made homes. In SPU Passive Roof elements, Finnforest Kerto Q boards and Kerto S beams are used.
